  1. Hi Sam,

This is great to see. It's a very nice approach to the artbook and instantly engaging for any reader. I think all of my crits regarding this would come back to the same problem you face with this project as an animation. How do you make this visually engaging and readable at the same time. My big fear being, when you begin to add text to these pages, will it become a headache of dots, colours and text. Certainly a thing you want to approach sooner rather than later.

My advice would be to look at more reference. I.e. how pop art and old comics approach large portions of text. Finding the sweet spot between, background, colour, character and font is going to be key. Using blurs or text boxes would be my immediate response.

But overall, I love the approach. I'd like to see more sketches / preproduction work. So, the versions of these characters before they were drawn up as finalised pages. Almost like a display of your best sketchbook pages.

And I'd like to see some simpler pages that just show a full piece of concept art. Or a finished render etc.

So, overall, it's a strong approach. But, if it becomes too much of a headache to read, then simpler pages might prove helpful.
